About Sports Therapy Treatment

Can everyone benefit?
There can be many benefits to having Sports Therapy Treatments both in training, pre event and also in recovery.

Almost every major sports team has its own
therapist to help them, but it is now affordable and can benefit everyone from low back pain with a golfer to upper back pain with the office worker, from shoulder problems with the tennis player and
swimmer to neck problems brought about
because of poor postural habits while in the
office.

As science develops and professional athletes, dancers and their trainers push the boundaries of human performance and recovery, the benefits
filter down to general sportsmen and women at club level and then to people in the workplace who may sustain injuries through repetitive movements of various kinds or come to suffer body alignment problems as a result of poor ergonomics
within their work environment.

Your Therapist will talk to you about this during your
consultation and will devise a treatment programme specifically for your body,

your sport or the problem from which you are suffering.

In some cases your treatment may be fully clothed and performed through light clothing such as sports wear, in others cases the therapist will need to see the body surface to determine what is taking place and its relation to other body areas and to work out in much more detail what needs to be done with the problem in question.

The body is very complex and sometimes the site of pain may not be where the actual problem lies, this is called referred pain, so you could find that your therapist may have to work with other areas of your body other than the local area about which you are concerned. Your therapist will be able to explain, so don't be afraid to ask questions at any point during your treatment.

After your treatment
Due to the nature of deep muscle tissue work or joint mobilisation it can be uncomfortable at first, but your body will respond over the hours or days after and any soreness should be replaced with a distinct feeling of improvement to at least some degree.
Depending on the nature of the injury and how well you take care of it between treatments the therapy will help your body to heal at a much faster rate.
As your treatment plan progresses your therapist will give you clear straightforward advice about how you can take care of the injury while it heals, along with guidelines as to how to prevent a recurrence.
